Activities in Alor
In addition to diving we offer a variety of other activities around Alor Tanapi to keep you occupied when you are not diving.
Alor – A Remote Island in Eastern Indonesia
Alor represents a different side of Indonesia – remote, largely untouched, and still deeply connected to both land and sea. Located in East Nusa Tenggara within the Indonesian archipelago, the island is known for its volcanic landscapes, diverse cultural heritage, and rich marine ecosystems.
This combination makes Alor one of the most unique and least commercialised destinations in Indonesia. For visitors, it offers more than natural beauty; it provides an opportunity to experience a slower, more traditional way of life that is becoming increasingly rare in modern Southeast Asia.
Unlike more developed tourist destinations, Alor has remained authentic, with daily life still strongly shaped by fishing, agriculture, and local traditions that have been passed down through generations.
Culture Tours and Land Activities in Alor
Beyond diving and snorkeling, Alor offers a variety of land-based experiences that allow visitors to explore the island’s culture, landscapes, and natural environment.
Guests can take part in cultural village visits, where traditional houses, weaving practices, and local customs are still actively maintained. Villages such as Takpala and surrounding communities provide insight into the indigenous heritage of Alor, including traditional dance, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
For those interested in nature, Alor also offers volcanic hikes, waterfall treks, and scenic coastal excursions. The island’s rugged terrain creates dramatic viewpoints and untouched natural areas that are ideal for exploration.
We are happy to assist with information and arrangements for cultural tours, hiking trips, and other land-based activities during your stay at Alor Tanapi Dive Resort. Our team can help tailor experiences based on your interests, schedule, and travel plans.
